b-dubs89 Posted June 23, 2012 Report Posted June 23, 2012 i like the idea of finding when equipment clips like amps and head units , like the idea enough to where i am looking into buying an o-scope . i am seeing there are many options / variations . i don't need anything too fancy , all i want to do is check pre-amp signals from headunits and set amp gains for now and maybe in the future check out some of my home audio gear see where it clips . i have seen some 20 mhz scopes 30,60mhz , 500 mhz scopes , not sure but my educated guess is the 20 mhz scope should be suitable for what want . i have seen a few usb based o-scopes made to run on pc , don't know how well those work , seen some used scopes in the same price range . so if any one can tell what i should look for or if it matters what type of o-scope i get that would be helpful . my other thought is , can i use test tones from a cd for my o-scope tests ?
