icecreamxd Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 Hey guys this is my first post here. I'm planning to upgrade my current system which I bought from a friend several years ago on a budget. I now have been saving up money for the system that I want and it took me a long time to figure out what I really want in a system. I know you can go either SPL or SQ and i'm leaning more toward SQ but still have the ability to hit hard. I listen to a wide range of music so the ability to blend in well is a must. Right now I have an Alpine INA-w910 deck that I got recently and hooked up siriusxm with it as well. I have some cheap comps in the front and some 6x9's in the back running a RF 500x4. And I have 2 Diamond Audio D6's sealed in the back in a prefab box running a RF 800a2. I already bought the Rainbow Germanium's 6.5 comps and hopefully will be installing them as soon as I get some Damplifier Pro to make my doors solid. I will be taking out the back 6x9's and run Bi-amped with the Rainbows so I can focus on front stage. I will be pairing a 12" Fi Q with two TC VMP's. I know PR setups are expensive but i'm willing to save up for it. Should I go with 2 12" PR's or 2 15" PR's? I have a 2004 Toyota Corolla so I don't have much space and I don't want it to weigh me down tremendously with a huge ported box. What size box should I go with? I hear PR boxes don't have to be as big as ported and still be able to get low. I will be upgrading my amp for sure but don't know which is a better buy. I'm contemplating between AQ1200D or SAX-1200D. they have almost same specs but the Sundown is like twice the price. I know Sundown is underrated but for that amount of money, would it be wise to just get a AQ2200D instead? Let me know what your thoughts are. Thank you.
icecreamxd Posted June 30, 2012 Author Report Posted June 30, 2012 no input on what I should do? Should I stick with 12" PR's or move it up to 15"? What size box? Trying to keep it as small as possible while sounding good.
john253a Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 I don't think a single 15pr will cut it I think you'll need 2 12" Every pr setup I've seen have a 2:1 ratio of cone area I'm no expert on pr ad have never set 1 up either You may find some luck speeking to whoever your using to get the pr as they will be the ones custom building them for you app.
