4 gauge for dual batterys?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2006 g35 coupe. I plan on running a t1000-1 bdcp. And a t600-4. I have a d5100r xs power under the hood. And the d375 i wanna run in the trunk as a second battery. Right now i have 4 gauge cadance wire running from main battery to the rear from my old setup. Will this cable be fine? Also i bought CCA wire before reading the bad things about it :(. I did the BIG 3 upgrade with the knu cca wire 0gauge and the car is running fine so far no side effects. So basically my main question is can i get away with using 4 gauge wire between my d5100r and my d375. And will i be fine using the cca cable?

You should be fine, but the bigger and also OFC the better current flow.

I think 4 gauge is only good up to 1000 watts rms. I would run 1/0 to back, both positive 1/0 and ground 1/0 from front to rear.

Not true. The recommended wire gauge is determined by the diameter of the conductor in the wire, the material the wire is composed of and the distance of the run. The amperage rating of a particular wire gauge should only be used for fusing. Overkill is not a bad thing, in the situation of the original poster I would re-run OFC 0 ga. and not look back. Why not? It just removes a future limit now.

I'm gonna hate

CCA is not bad and will not cause and ill side effects. it would be best to have 0 gauge tho. also you can use cca wire for everyting, you just might have to double up on the runs if your pulling more than 250 amps
