Smoove Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 sell the cap, get a second battery. do the big 3. running different size subs cause some cancelation. wall off the trunk. keep the Hifonics and only run the audio pipe 10's in a good box 2 Team Fi 15's v1 2 DD M5's 970amps of Alt 6th order blowthroughThe truck Blowthrough build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155555-smooves-1996-chevy-ext-cab-c1500-slow-build/The 350z build : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/170694-smooves-2003-nissan-350z/ My FB page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Smooves-Car-Audio-and-performance/719746144805343 Team Fi Audio http://www.ficaraudio.com/
Guest Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 Caps dont really do anything. Get another battery.and run it.in parralel to your main battery and an isolator in between. Make sure your altinator can handle the load though
Jessica Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 You won't get any love for capacitors around here. Let me explain why. A capacitor is made to discharge very very quickly. It does not store very much energy. I am talking about wattage here; Volts X Amps - watts. So you have a big 12v battery with low amperage. The only time you will benefit from a cap is on a crisp clean drum beat. Right at the very beginning of the peak of the wave when then amplifier starts to draw the most current and your alternator and battery aren't keeping up the cap will discharge because the current out will exceed the current in. How often do you really have music where the only thing going on is just a kick drum? It won't really hurt anything using it, but you would benefit more by getting a better battery, upgrading to good wire and grounds and if you need it a bigger alt. (see the big three thread in the electrical section). Anyway, To sum up, Get a second good battery and or upgrade your main. Do the big three. As far as the subs go, test test test. Car audio is 90% installation 10% equipment. Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. My super random youtube channel and terrible camera work.
