Are these the right capacitors?

Recommended Posts

One series cap will only get you a 6dB slope.

If you need 12, you'll need a higher order xover setup.

http://www.parts-exp...tnumber=266-474 ????

You would need to buy 4 of those, because each one needs to be 8 ohms.

You could use these

Hooked up like this

Of course, instead of one speaker on the right, you'd have 2 in parallel.

Here's the calculator I used http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/crosscalc.asp#ccc

I'm aware I was just making sure I had the right ones

seems it would just be easier to buy the already assembled ones that I posted rather than the separate cap and inductor you posted tho? or am I wrong lol

Yeah, it'd be easier, but cost a bit more. The cap and inductor setup is for 4 ohms, so you'd only have to buy a pair of each.

Edit: plus doing it yourself is hella funner. Why are you in this hobby if you like to take the easy way out?

Well see thats why I was asking I wasn't sure of the benefit of one over the other.....if I was in this hobby to take the easy way out I wouldn't be on here, I would be sitting in the lobby at some shitty local car audio place letting them take care of it lol...

  • 2 weeks later...

have you considered an external crossover or electronic crossover. i remember buying capacitors back in the day to block out a lot of the lower/mid bass to reduce distortion

2002 Civic Si

Soundstream VR 931-NBT

DLS UP36i components

DC power 320 amp alt

XS Power - (3) D3400s, (2) D3100s

2 DD 9515's all carbon with superchargers

Audio Control MVC processor

Arc Audio KS300.2

Sub amps - considering 2 T2500bdcp's for MECA M3
