If you have the gain down it shouldnt be a problem... should it? yes, amps dont like having power and searching for signal to put out that just isnt there, i dont know the reasoning behind it, but i know they really dont like it. it's kinda like having the microwave on without food in there. Learned this when working on my system, class a/b amp without rcas plugged into it, got hot enough to burn my hand... Tim Lam Posted July 13, 2012 Report Share Posted July 13, 2012 i would just tape up the wires, remove the fuse like stated before(from the battery to the amp). and completely remove the amp. the wiring is fine if its just there protected, but if your amp is just sliding around it would cause a lot of stress on the wires and possibly ruining your ground cable. well that was the case for me one time anyways...
