JustinT
1lb per cube; its enough. its only a 1.3 cube box. so 1 bag is perfect after displacements. polyfil works wonders, not only it makes your box "bigger" but you get a warmer sound using. Thermodynamics ftw. i'll tell you one thing birch is nice! i will never use mdf again, i saved soo much headaches by throwing down the extra cash for it. What does polyfil have to do with thermodynamics <---------Chemistry Major "IT SOUNDS SLOW MOTION AND STUTTERING"~~~~LOL 2 15" Fi BTLs 7.5 cf box @ 33hz Sundown SAZ-3500D Powermaster S3400 & D3100 Iraggi 300a alt SecondSkin - totally dead Knu wire
Guest MegaloManiac
What does polyfil have to do with thermodynamics <---------Chemistry Major The polyfil turns the enclosure from "Adiabatic" to "Isothermal". Adiabatic means there is no heat transfer. Isothermal process happens when the polyfil is added. When air passes through the fibers, they wiggle, and generate heat and makes the air less dense from warming up. Sound passes easier through a denser medium, the speaker interacts with the enclosure and and acts as if the enclosure was bigger. It can make the speaker think the box is bigger as much as 40% in size. Your box becomes more efficient now for daily use
JustinT
so where you read that at? lol would it be wise to use in a ported box. Guest MegaloManiac
*** sounds, by DevilDriver(i know he knows his audio ) it can be used in ported enclosure, but i think there are too many variables to play the guessing game on tuning...if that makes sense
