If I have sub up port side should my phase switch be normal or reverse?

You would normally shift the phase 180 degrees if you would reverse mount a subwoofer, there are other uses for the phase nob but you shouldn't need them.

My System (in VW golf/Rabbit mk2)

(1) Hifonics Zeus 440 Mids'nhighs

I've been curious about this also. What exactly does the phase DO?

changing the phase makes it on time with the music, your subs when they hit, hit outwards, inverting them will make them hit in the same direction (which would be into your box) so you flip the polarity so its on phase (timing). so it will hit outwards again. you switch the phase when you invert a sub. (mount it backwords with the motor out).

I always just leave the phase alone and reverse the polarity?
