Guest
series is wiring + to - parallel is + to + and - to - parallel reduces ohm load series raises in this example, parallel halves and series doubles or you can do it with dual voice coil subwoofers. in this case, series quadruples, and parallel fourths it but sometimes you can do whats called series/parallel, which can get you an in between ohm load that will still work. take note of the +'s and -'s play around with this calc. i use it all the fucking time for figuring out ohm loads lol http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp Edited August 5, 2012 by Kranny

Guest
you can also do it for batteries. parallel keeps the voltage (12v, for example) the same, but increases the amperage output. series increases the voltage, like 2 12v batteries creates 24v, yet the amperage output stays the same. you see series'd batteries a lot in hydraulic rides. they need like 72v or something like that to operate the equipment. and you see parallel'd setups almost every time in car audio.
