mikelbolton
Got a quote on a bolt in alternator but not sure If I'm sold on it just yet. Got some time off tomorrow to checkout under the hood for running wires. Should have my mids and highs in too, not 100% sure. Any progress so far with yours Mike? I'll be honest, I was sitting here sketching up an alternator mounting bracket. One that would adapt our cars to handle the silverado bracket, but I started to think about it. It's kinda pointless. I did some searching and Singer, Tenney, and Iraggi make alts for our cars now. They're prices aren't bad. If I finished designing this bracket, it'd cost $100-150 to machine. Then you'd still have to spend $400-600 for the alt to put on the car. It's not very fiscally responsible to pay that, just to throw another alt on the car, when a bolt-on can be had for around half that. I tuned up the mids/highs I have, I can almost hear them now. I'll be going back in to retune in the next day or so. Semester just started, so I've been putting things off. Car has also developed a CEL and a nice misfire that has cost me 5MPG... I'll be checking that out this afternoon. 2011 Chevrolet Aveo(click for build log)Clarion NX-603SKAR 4500.1DIraggi 320A alt Knukonceptz 1/0 Kollosus Fleks Cable8 AWG Sky High Car Audio OFC 1/0- Sky High Car Audio 2- XP3000 XS Power BatteriesSMD VM-12- 12" Ascendant Audio Mayhems Toolmaker Fuse block Toolmaker Bus Bars (Last Season scores 1-15" Mayhem) 145.2 dB- Sealed @ NSPL World Finals (9/28/14) 148.1 dB- Hardcore @ NSPL World Finals (9/27/14) 150.23-- Hardcore on 4500 Watts!!!! mikelbolton
I may still work on the alt bracket, but honestly it doesn't feel like a priority. I have found a pretty good deal on one that I think will suit my needs, and it's only about half of what I will spend if I decided to do a swap. I am taking classes at the local college, and could probably use our machines to cut some stock I would buy. I just honestly don't think the price point will justify the expense. I.E. Silverado alt 270A $630 + $150 (est cost for swap bracket)= $780 (not including shipping costs, and harness to adapt alt) Aveo Alt (won't give away man, but see previous posts). 220A $325 shipped 320A $439 380A $499 Honestly, if there was a huge demand for them... IMO, someone would have made a bracket already... if there comes a huge demand, I'll refine my drawings and we'll see if I can get them on the market. 2011 Chevrolet Aveo(click for build log)Clarion NX-603SKAR 4500.1DIraggi 320A alt Knukonceptz 1/0 Kollosus Fleks Cable8 AWG Sky High Car Audio OFC 1/0- Sky High Car Audio 2- XP3000 XS Power BatteriesSMD VM-12- 12" Ascendant Audio Mayhems Toolmaker Fuse block Toolmaker Bus Bars (Last Season scores 1-15" Mayhem) 145.2 dB- Sealed @ NSPL World Finals (9/28/14) 148.1 dB- Hardcore @ NSPL World Finals (9/27/14) 150.23-- Hardcore on 4500 Watts!!!! Rmichael91
As long as we can find something to suit our needs, we should just go with it. A direct fit I mean. Only came across 2 companies so far. 2 weeks and I should have most of my power wire in and ran. Then just waiting on batteries and some more Skar goodies. mikelbolton
Tenney, Iraggi, and Singer all make alts for Aveo's. Rmichael91
Not yet. I feel I haven't gotten enough progress just yet. Another month or so and I'll have one up. I mean I've been taking pics of everything so far but still. About to head over to my buddy's place and get the mids and highs in and hooked up. Re run some wiring too. I pulled a quote from Tenney for a bolt on, Irragi was kinda vague with me and I haven't gotten a reply from Singer. Just haven't had the time to call them up. mikelbolton
Cool, I look forward to seeing your build. Yeah, getting an alt for these cars takes awhile apparently... On a side note, I got me a package yesterday. Props to Steve for the hat and sticker... But he done screwed me up.... He signed the inside of the hat... almost makes me not want to wear it.... Who am I kidding, I'm gonna wear it regardless... Today, a buddy of mine called me up and wanted me to paint something for him. I jumped at the chance to break out the HVLP again. He brought me his bike frame. Got his first layers of primer done. Might see about some actual paint down later tonight... deadline on project is Friday (fully assembled and in use)... 2011 Chevrolet Aveo(click for build log)Clarion NX-603SKAR 4500.1DIraggi 320A alt Knukonceptz 1/0 Kollosus Fleks Cable8 AWG Sky High Car Audio OFC 1/0- Sky High Car Audio 2- XP3000 XS Power BatteriesSMD VM-12- 12" Ascendant Audio Mayhems Toolmaker Fuse block Toolmaker Bus Bars (Last Season scores 1-15" Mayhem) 145.2 dB- Sealed @ NSPL World Finals (9/28/14) 148.1 dB- Hardcore @ NSPL World Finals (9/27/14) 150.23-- Hardcore on 4500 Watts!!!! Rmichael91
I've got 2 hats, one for my noggin and one to start throwing on the dash at shows Haha. I got my mids and highs in lastnight but being too busy I forgot to take pics -.- Ah well, snap a few when I add in the deadener and rework some spacing on the front doors. Singer got with me, not too bad of a price tag for the power.
