Advice with my yota

Okay this is my first truck and i can tell engine has taking beating over the years so i decided i wanted to do some upgrades now note that i only make 300 on average weekly but really this truck is my only bill for now.

so overtime this is what i wanna do.

Rebuild

now is there anything i should know expect to walk into or need when rebuilding this truck?

it is a 1991 toyota 22re with no rebuild ever 180k+ Miles ( speedometer/odometer cable was ripped when i got it ) i know the timing chain is bad and i think the valves need to be adjusted.

but does this all seem okay to do?

will i see a big difference?

any experience with this field?

anything would be nice to hear advice , idea's , suggestions and experience's

spend some money at the machine shop haveing your block and head machined and the rotating assembly balanced . best advice i can give .

agree with b-dubs, get the rotating assembly balanced, heads cleaned up and a valve job, and see if the cylinders need a hone. other than that you really have about everything.

oh and check out the lifters and camshaft, since it looks like they dont come with that kit. dont want to rebuild a motor with worn out lobes or junk lifters.

No sense is dumping money into rebuilding something that isnt broken. Fix the timing chain. Let it run til it explodes. I've seen tons of these motors go 300-400k+ like its no big deal. It's one of the few yota motors I actually have some respect for :Thumbup:
