Recommended Posts

Ford escort = bass chamber my friend has two l7s on a bd 1500 and my twelve messes with his ears

How did it mess with his ears? Did it touch em, blow it to his ears. maybe play with them?

just a note for the guys with mustangs

musically they are great. the cabin has a peak (at least the edge body style) around 44-45. this gives a secondary peak in the mid 20s. so with some good eq'ing you can be extremely flat and musical

it was my favorite thing about the mustang

always had a great sound

love the new edge style, like i have, but what do u mean by a secondary peak? and it is extremely musical, it just took a little bit of testing the boxes and messing with settings, but i love the way it sounds.

acoustics are all about octaves and wavelengths

your secondary peak is going to be one octave above and below your main peak

this is the point where your wave hits at about half the amplitude of your main peak. (read up on quarter wave theory)

so imagine that you have a line from 20 to 100 (a relatively common sub bass range)

with a main peak of 45, you have secondary peaks at 22.5 and 90

the line will look somewhat as follows

small peak dip large peak dip small peak

if you can visualize that you can really understand how it can be so musical. eq the 45 hz range down a bit and you have a decently full range of sub bass frequencies.

now of course im strictly speaking cabin response here. box tuning and things like that are other ways to change the frequency response curve

Will this explains why I peak at 41hz but the low 20's are so dang loud..

thank you for the explanation, guess its time to play around with some box tuning to see what's best in my car!
