gibblegeibel
i have a cerwin vega stroker 122 dual voice coil 2 ohm woofer. it is 2000 rms, i have a hifonics brutus brz1700.1d 1700 @ 1 ohm, 1200 @ 2 ohm and 600 @ 4 ohm. right now i have it wired at 1 ohm, so it is getting 1700 watts. but i was wondering if i could wire each voice coil up to the the amp so each coil would get 1200 watts to each coil. is this ok to do and would it hurt the sub? john253a
with a dual 2ohm coil your final load can only be 1ohm or 4 ohm and what ever the final ohm equals that will determine the rms output of your amp, if your amp makes 1700@ 1ohm and wire your sub to 1ohm final, each voice coil will see 850rms each now if you want your sub to see more power you'll need a bigger amp, in the cheaper $$$ range idd recomemend the bre2000 or bre2500, if you use the the bre2500 make sure you set the gains with a dd1 at -5 or -3 and not -10 due to the power output, but if you have the $$$ to get something decent idd recommend the sax2500 as it will outlast the bre and is strapabul if you deceid to upgrade down the line
