RAM5493 Posted August 30, 2012 Report Share Posted August 30, 2012 3500watt = 14.4v * I (current) with that it should be 243.0555555555555555555556 amps but that's with a perfect world someone correct me if I'm wrong please Edit: calculations done with best case scenario with great electrical Crandis you said it right this would be in a perfect world with a 100% efficient amp but honestly the efficiency is not released at 1 ohm for any amps besides the Rockfords atleast as far as ive seen and the 2500 is only 61% efficient at 1 ohm and over 80 at 4ohms so im assuming these amps are somewhere between 55-70% efficient at 1ohm. Oh really? I run a 3500 on a single 12. Birch box 30lbs, sub 50lbs. Only one extra battery and a 270amp alt. how's your voltage sit at full tilt? When I got a demo the other night, after about 30 seconds of full tilt play, he dropped to low 13's and as soon as he turned it down it recovered within seconds. I was very impressed with how his voltage held up. Then again my voltage dropped to 12.4V on the burp and Fosgates are power hungry. I'd just follow the general rule and divide by 10. Makes me wonder what my box rise currently is, how do you calculate box rise and what are some factors that effect box rise? My buddy has fancy software and a clamp meter that we used. I am wired to .5-nominal and rose to 1.6-ohms at my burp frequency of 42Hz. The saying that larger boxes are more efficient is definitely true. When you go to add more and more power, you need to shrink your box to increase power handling. But when you make your box smaller and smaller, your rise increases. It's just a constant battle. I'm no expert on fighting rise, but building big, nice and even with no extreme funky angles, and allowing smooth airflow have always helped me. I'm sure others can chime in on this. Rise is something that average daily driver setups honestly don't have to worry about. Another example would be my buddies Durango. He was wired to 1-ohm on two 18" XL's and rose to like 3.6-ohms. He then wired down to .25-ohms and then rose to like .9. He saw a 4.2db increase.
