Is there any problem with using Birch plywood in quite small enclosures ?

I've planned a box for DC Level 2 (1.25 CF before port and displacements) and my friend mentiond that the Birch (1.9mm/0.75") might crack while screwing it.

I always drill a leading hole before screwing, is there any other things I need to know in order to build the Birch plywood enclosure ?

No problem. Pre-drill and don't go crazy with screws. And don't screw too close to the edge.

The straighter your cuts, the better the glue can hold.

If possible, try to find the better quality birch with more plys.

i have not had any birch ply from homedepot crack while screwing it together.if you ask me it holds screws better then mdf ever will.there is no reason to predrill a hole like mdf.but if you want you can counter sink them for looks. about the only problem i see is the small amount of voids in the birch ply.some times they end up in your cut so i like to fill them with bondo.I like it because its lighter and easier to handle.I had no problem picking up a 11cf box double layer birch by myself.would not even try that with mdf
