OK... I'm confusedconfused.gif

I want to, eventually, get some subs and an amp for my jeep. I was looking at the Kicker compVRs. They have a 400rms with 800 peak and 4ohm. Im looking at the diagrams and Crutchfield, and when wiring one 4 ohm DVC sub to a mono amp it has a '2ohm' by the amp, and a '4ohm' by each voice coil of the sub. When I look at the diagram of the same setup, but with 2 subs, the amp has a '4ohm' by it. Does this mean that the amp is pushing out its power at 2 and 4 ohm respectively?

If my amp had 1000rms at 2ohm then it would have 500rms at 4ohm. Place that amp in the diagram; the amp would be pushing 1000rms (first diagram) to the one sub. Now, since that sub has the '4ohm' next to the voice coils, as per the diagram, would that sub only be getting 500rms power (per my made-up amp)?

IM SO CONFUSED! I just HAVE to be over thinking this. It cant be this complicated!

How about this, I want two 12" Kickers ( CompVR 07CVR124). I would need an amp that could output around 800rms at 4ohms, correct?

The CompVR 07CVR124 for 4ohm and the CompVR 07CVR122 are 2ohm. The first diagram says that if i put a DVC 4ohm sub with a mono amp, the amp with be at 2ohm load. Wouldnt that be bad for the sub since its a 4ohm amp? Same thing for the 2ohm version; if i put it with a mono amp, the amp runs a 4ohms... wtf

http://www.the12volt.com/ (this will explain a lot to you)

the impedance (OHMS)changed based on how you wire them the top one is wired in parelell

the bottom one is wired in series/parelell.

if you look you can see that they are wired differently this changes the final load that the amp sees

in the above diagram the ohm load you see next to the amp is not the amps rating but rather the load the amp see from the subs. the ohm load you see from the subs is the load each voice coil has.

he could blow a sub powering it with a potato.

get 2 dual 2 ohm subs in order to wire the amp at 2 ohms, to get the full 1000w
