Just as the title says, My brother (who is 16) isn't able to get online so I am doing this for him. He is looking for recommendations on around a 1000 watt 1ohm stable amp. He is trying to stay around the $200 mark. This will be running a SA-15 in a 4.5 cubic foot box tuned to 27hz. He is looking at the Audio Que AQ750 and the Hifonics HFi1000D. Would like an opinion on those amps and any other suggestions please.

thats going to b ur best bet right there. or a 1k mb quart amp. personally tho i would stay away from the hifi series from hifonics, an if u do get an mb quart get the oynx line up.

My build

98 s10 2.2

3 american bass HD 15s with psi soft parts. (on there way here)

atomic at-3000.1 (soon) 146.2 outlaw @39hz., bad alt an bad batt when termed (old 2 12" build)

alpine 6.5s in doors

infinty 4x6s in dash.

clarion cz201 HU.

mechman 240a H/O alt

stuff i still need.

SHCA 2/0 wire

SHCA 1/0 to 2/0 adapters

Atomic AT-3000.1

Lots of sound deadner

new mids an highs, still debating on what to do.

A few Deka g31 batts.

You're gonna tune nearly 8 Hz below the Fs if that sub?!?!! What kind of enclosure do you have planned? Do you plan on hearing any bass, or just feeling some soundless air move? Don't tune that low for a regular ported box, unless you want to get practice building boxes.

On to the amp issue: for his budget, you may as well get an MB Quart ONYX1500

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

the hfi series from hifonics is garbage. the ONLY line i would touch is the brz. virtually everything else sucks by them.

Yeah Kranny, you won't ever hear me suggest that MB Quart either I see other possible issues with this build and I don't see the MB Quart being the weak link.

*Edit- The AQ750 wouldn't be a bad option either

I have the AQ750 and it's a really good amp. But you'll want more, as with all of us. So start out with 1200rms or more. I've heard good things about audiopipe so take a look at that. For $130 or so you get 1500rms that does rated. I'd save for the AQ1200 tho. There are b stocks often on their site for around $200. Patience is a virtue.

I think the main part of this build will come down to the enclosure and how it's built. I would NEVER suggest an amp that's twice the RMS on a box tuned as low as he wants to tune. Maybe if he likes doing recones. Those coils will jump that gap so fast it'll be a crackhead tryin to get across an intersection for a rock.

Didn't see it's a single sub. But just turn the set down. Then have extra power if he adds another sub with the gain to it's proper place. :)

the FS is 30.9 and its tuned to 27 thats only 4 hz but i see what you are saying. I do know he got the dimensions from a box calculator online. which one i dont have a clue. I do know my grandfather is helping him with the entire install and is a licensed LCD tv repair technician and owned his own electronics repair shop for 14 years before selling it. So I can guarantee you that all the amps and everything will be set as perfect as possible. I do know that he wants it to move a lot of air for hair tricks and make a lot of windshield flex.

I highly doubt there's going to be hair tricks with 1000rms, let alone 1500 or even 2000 on a single 15. :)
