Ok, hi everyone. I am running 2 Power Accoustik MOFO's 12". I am having trouble finding a good amp to run them. They claim 1500w rms each. My subs are 2ohm DVC.

I cant decide on what amp to use on my build. Plz do not start bashing the brands i have chosen. this is a budget build. I am also open to any other options you have but keep in mind Budget is a KEY factor.

Also, i can swap my subs for 4ohm DVC if you have 1ohm recommendations.

In short, i need your help.

Out of those choices the Alpine would be your best bet

Edit: you could always run one of these at 1ohm http://store.crescendoaudio.com/bc2000d/ it's a little cheaper than the alpine and will do about the same power.

That is a nice amp!!

It said 0.5 ohm compatible with a "strong electrical" i am running 14.4 volts thanks to my 8 ferrad cap and my 2 yellow-tops. now it caps off at 16.8v so i guess that means to run 0.5ohm i would need a 16volt system?

No you can run it at .5ohm on 14.4 volts BUT you'd need roughly double the electrical to run it at that load vs 1ohm. IMO the stress on the amp and electrical system isn't worth the couple hundred extra watts you'll get from running at .5ohm, if your chasing tenths on the meter it might be worth it but for daily stick to 1ohm.

I am not to knowledgeable when it comes to the effects of low impedance on systems other than the higher the ohms the more "clarity" you should get out of your speakers and that at a lower resistance you can get more power out of an amp.

I never knew it put that strain on my electrical. thanks that is actually very helpful.

ALSO i know the alpine is the pest choice however as stated price is a concern so if anyone has a cheaper alternative.

Well I wouldn't use any of those because you would be under powering your subs which is harmful. I would look at maybe an AudioPipe 3000+ watt rms amp or two AudioPipe amps that are 1500+ watts rms each. Now i am saying AudioPipe because they are pretty inexpensive for what you get. Now if you want to get extremely good quality I would look at DC Audio (or Sound Lab, whatever it truly is), but you will be paying for the quality, not sure how much, but not cheap.

But if you want to power your subs properly I would do two amps and wire them to power each sub. That's what I am doing so I know that each sub is powered, but maybe look at one 3000 watt rms amp first and see if you could swing it. You would not be disappointed.

Just cause someone been doing something wrong for 12 years doesn't make them right. I encountered a guy with "30 years experience" saying that ported boxes destroys subs, which is blasphemy. Plus, they probably been clipping if they kept blowing super powerful subs with tiny amps.
