audiofanaticz Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 Not accurate as any amp or bass knob with a clip indicator light. The clip lights work off the rail voltage of the amp. When the amp makes XXXX watts, the light turns. Even if the amp is not clipping one bit. So setting a gain or even turning the amp up until the light barley blinks and never going louder is just short changing you on power. All in all, a selling gimmick on the amps with clip lights. Use an Oscilloscope or SMD DD-1 to set your gains, either one you buy, or have access too will work just fine.
