Hatch questions ..

So I have a 1994 keep ZJ, (grand Cherokee), and I've always wondered, how much space should you leave between the hatch and the port, and does that matter according to how high the box is ?

The stard rule of thumb is at least the size of your port. So say you have a 6" port, keep it at least 6" from your hatch

Now are you talking about how high the port is ? Cause I've got a slot ported box, and the port is on the bottom. 2.5" high but like 4" away from the hatch.

Im also thinking going aero ports but I have no idea how to do that with Torres or where to even put them, because my box as it sits, sounds like crap. Supposedly 6.75 cubic feet tuned to "32" but sounds like 36, and that's due to poor box design and not enough port area. Box is sub up, port back

Post the max dims for a box, the dims of your current box (external) and the dims of the port (internal including length). and the model of the subs and amp you have.

Max Dims are,

41" wide,

34 deep,

And 26 tall.

Current box is,

24" hi,

34" wide and

22" deep.

Port is 33" wide,

2.5 tall, 20" deep.

It's a custom 18" on a brx2010.

The port width to height ratio is wrong it must stay 9:1 yours is above 13 so it acts like there was less port area than it actually has. And since the sub is custom, you should have the t/s parameters metered AFTER it's broken in or ask for them to whoever put that sub together. Not wise to build a box without any data on the sub.

Yeah It bottoms out easier on low notes too. The box is just crap. I rushed it.

And yeah, I know. I got it off CL. Well, I have 2 of them but I didn't think I had the space to fully run 2 of them. They take 2k rms daily, but they're d4s, so it's only seeing maybe 12 to 1400. But I am super low on funds and can't start from scratch, so I figured I'd seal up the port and throw some aero's In there. I want it tuned decently low. Somewhere in the 30-32 range maybe?
