Mega cab 4 18's in a 4th --- 157+db on music

Recommended Posts

There is nothing going behind the panel, there all in the same space. The doors will be deadened however.

The doors are not finished yet, obviously. I will be machining handles for them with a push button switch. I have a door popper kit ordered so I can open them from the inside. I will also be machining a panel for the center console to house the switches for the windows and door locks.

Not sure if I mentioned this in a previous post but this will consist of 12 8in crescendo pwx mids and 8 selenium st304 tweeters. The mids will be ran off a pair of crescendo c1600.2's and the tweets off of a c1100.4.

  • 1 month later...

I have been slacking on updating this for a while. A lot of work has gone into this in the last month. A good part of it was wiring and machining. there was A LOT of shit to wire up for all these speakers as well as my window controls, door locks, door poppers, and LED's.

I got my doors wrapped but I did a rather shitty job. They looked ok until I parked in the sun and the vinyl started coming off. I ordered some 4 way stretch vinyl instead of 2 way and I'm going to have someone do these for me instead. My wrapping skills suck. Good quality vinyl is expensive as hell too. Almost had a heart attack when I was told that that it was 60$ a yard! This is what they look like as of right now. They look worse in person then in the picture.

Had to realign the doors after the added weight. And there's still more mids to go in!

The switch panel that was machined for the center console. Houses the 4 window switches, a lock/unlock switch and 2 pac-lc1's.

Figuring out how to wire these switches was a bit of a pain. Had to use DPDT switches for this to work. The window switches swop polarity for up/down and are wired directly to each window motor. The door lock switch was tapped into a factory wire. It uses a negative trigger with a different value resistor for lock/unlock. In my case one is 330ohms and the other is 820ohms. I have no idea how this works, but it does so ill leave it at that.

This is the lock switch, it only has 3 wires coming off of it but the window switches have 6.

I machined a port flare to accept a 5in pvc pipe with a press fit. Was done entirely on my mill and surfaced with a ball nose endmill.
