Cabin Gain

Would anybody know how much cabing gain I can get out of a 2002 tundra access cab if I'm running one sa 12 ported 2 cubes firing toward the ceiling with the enclosure on the back seat? Would there be more cabin gain than a larger car because there is less air volume to move? I was just wondering how an sa 12 would sound in this truck....

The way your sub sounds is all gonna depend on how the box is built. For instance, my friend has an sa12 in his Explorer on 900 watts, and it hits lows very well. His box is tuned to 32hz. I've got a Type R in my Dakota Club Cab running on 1000 watts. My box is also tuned right around 32hz and it doesn't hit lows quite as well as my friend's. Granted, it could just be that the sa12 will get low easier than the Type R.

You claim that it's all dependent on the box, then proceed to describe setups with a different sub, different enclosure, different power, and different car. Mmmkay.

And OP, you want to put your box ON the backseat? Why not just take the seats out?

Are you wondering what the resonant frequency of your cab is? Or are you wondering if it will be harder or easier to play the low notes?

I was wondering if it would be harder or easier to play the low notes loud in this vehicle. I've never had a system in a truck only a car.

I really doubt you will get a clear cut answer. There are a few guys with the same truck and they all have different enclosures. You need to decide on a starting point for your box design. Then, redo it and redo it until it sounds right, to your ears.

As long as you tune your box correctly, you should be able to play low notes just fine.

I guess a good question is what you would consider to be "low notes". Most songs don't go below 30 hertz, so tuning around 31-32hz will give you good results.

The enclosure is tuned to 34hz. I guess ill find out when i hook it up if its deep and loud enough . I only have a jl500/1 jx at the moment so maybe a bigger amp would suffice if low spl is an issue
