I know what I would do, if it were me. I'd trim the box up(just a piece of birch or MDF a couple layers thick), and mount the amps up there. I'd keep the battery where it is, but get some more length out of the box. You should have plenty of room in that cab to get good volume for 8s WITH enough area past the box for the port to breathe. This is my opinion, but I wouldn't port up in that truck. I've got mine ported into the B-pillar with PVC ports, and the 10s are CHEAP. It absolutely destroys the lows though being tuned at 33Hz. I think aeros are a good idea, but I wouldn't do 2" aeros with a sub that has THAT much motor force and Xmax. I think you would have serious port noise. Maybe a single 3" or 4" depending on box volume. Are you around 1.5 cubes internal the way the box sits, after displacements?

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

heres the problem. where the box is now i can lay my drivers seat back as far back as i need. the subs are right behind center console so moving them over isnt an option. i mean at the moment the box sounds good but rule of thumb is what ive been hearing. 4inch port needs to be 4inch off the wall. i may just have to cut the metal out where the stock speaker location is at. it just sounds like they are being choked.

First of all I know what the problem is, I'll tell you: I don't live close enough to get my hands on this damn truck. I want to help so badly. I know you want to keep your subs in exactly the same spot. I have a question: is your seat 3 separate pieces? Mine in my regular cab GMC was a 40/20/40 and the center "jump" seat completely is removable. If yours is removable, do you use it to carry passengers? If not, why not just build your own center console out of MDF? You like playing with MDF enough as it seems with the sub box, amp rack, and battery tray. Why not just ditch the center console so you can put subs wherever you want?

My suggestion is to steer you as clear away from 2 inch ports as I can. Those subs have monster motor force and Xmax and will move done serious air. 2 inch ports won't get the job done without noise or just straight up restriction of airflow.

Can you go HIGHER up the back wall of the cab and that way you could reduce the width of the box a little bit? I'm trying to think of anything that would work. I still think adding some type of trim with MDF or birch ABOVE the box along the back of the cab and mounting the amps would be ideal you could even French the amps IN!!

I see lots of options for how you could get a box to breathe in that cab. Regular cabs suck, you have to be creative.

no center console is attached to passenger seat........i was thinking where the top of the box is currently was to extend it up and shorten the box. but at the moment the port inside of the box is 2in from sub magnet.

i will try and find a pic of what im talking about.

subbox-1.jpg

this is what im thinking about. box could be 34in long. and front face could go 19in. and the back of box could go 15 to fit flush up against back wall.

any one willing to draw up something. bottom of box is 11in............and i would fire to passenger side and keep a 4in aero. by shortening the box 2in that would give me atleast 4in from passenger side wall...................

i could get almost 5 if i remember correctly. problem is the port is 4in by 17in and i had to make a ring on outside of box to give it close to 2in inside the box so it wouldnt be so close to the sub magnet
