Purplehaze Posted October 15, 2012 Author Report Share Posted October 15, 2012 Well, I managed to get a little bit done, figured I'd share for those interested.First, I still needed to paint the rear brake calipers(new), rear sway bar, rear axle damper(new), rear diff. cover(new) and the rest of the rear suspension. So I got started. Removed the rear sway bar, for new bushings, and paint! The old diff cover, I really just didn't feel like messing with it. So I just bought a new one and painted it Finished, along side the new axle damper also finished Then I sanded, primed, and painted the rest of the rear suspension on the truck Then I said effit and pulled the transmission. I knew it had to be done, but I was surprised at what I found. Cant really see in the pic, but the race in the bh is messed up, causing the front seal to go. So I bought a new j.yard bell housing, and I plan on re installing this transmission, after changing seals front and back, filter and fluid. Hopefully it will still be good, and save me some cash! IF not, oh well, at least I will know for sure! And here is a shot of the torque converter, still on the flywheel. Looks new to me??? Also, I noticed the front axles don't look or feel so good, so I ordered new ones Anyway, that's as far as I got. Now the plan is to tow it down to my Dad's, where I can get some help getting it back together from my brother, and we can still take our time, and make it look and be nice. He kinda owes me some labor. Anyway, more pics as soon as we take em! Thanks for looking!!! First up I had to get it moved down to my brothers, mainly because it was too dangerous to have up in the air at my apartment. So once I got it there, we had to figure out a way to move it to where we needed it, without having any brakes. My brother came up with this nifty little setup! So we finally got it where we wanted, and up on plenty of blocks and jack stands. Can't be too safe! The first thing I wanted to do was to pull the rear diff. cover, and pull the axles, to change out the outter bearings and the parking brakes. But I found that the inner bearings were also bad, so they had to come out as well! Rear diff. is out! Bad bearing... Me, hard at it! Ring and pinion don't look too bad So then it was time to fight the rust bug some more! rear sway bar Rear caliper bracket Also, got this in. Who knows what this is for??? Maybe to help fit these? Hmm, 33 x 12.50 x 15's, I think perfect! But wait, there's more! Drive shafts New front upper control arms, w new balljoints and bushings Then I decided to pull the rear diff. case, to clean and paint it real good. Plus, we could not get one of the bearings off the differential, so I am taking it to a friend. Also, I snagged this up from Alphasig292, it's just a lil lvl2 15" DC, but yes system plans are now underway! Gotta have SOME bumps... And that's about all for now, stay tuned for much more to come! Yeah the truck will stay red for now, and if it was ever changed, I believe it would go black, so the parts would be cool. It's gonna be like off the show floor when it done!
