Guest Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 sorry if this is in the wrong section. didnt know where to put it under the car section. got a 99 monte carlo (replaced the corolla). the driver side window works like 70% of the time. sometimes the window will start to roll up fine, but then it will stop. itll start working again like five minutes later. any ideas?

Jessica Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 My accord has this problem except that it has gotten way worse lately. I have spent hours with a multimeter, chasing the crazy ass wiring. It has a relay that does the whole auto down, plus a switch that de-activates the passenger side controls plus wiring for the passenger side control. I have ran jumper wires and and other things and have narrowed my issue down to one bad connection in the plug that connects the door panel wiring to the actual door wiring. If i squeeze the wires really tight right at the plug the window works every time. So Not that your car is the same as mine but that is where i would start, right at that connector. Then if that don't help, do like azagoth said and start looking at the motor and relays. Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. Guest Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 hmm....well i just ordered a new switch so hopefully that will fix it. if not, i have to spend $95 on a motor and regulator. when i pulled the existing switch out, all the wires appeared to be in good condition. but i know that even if something looks good, it could still be bad internally.
Guest Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 my brother just texted me back and said that the driver side motor was replaced a few years back. im still thinking the switch. and if that doesnt work, then i'll definitely take a look at the wires/plug.

Well, I know you are a pretty smart guy, but unplug the harness and use your ohm setting on your multimeter and test to see if it works. You ought to be able to tell which wires go to which switch. Mine was a bit weird as the wire that went to the bottom of the switch was power in, and the middle and top tabs/wires were power out. DubNDodge Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 Its the switch. My friend and my moms fiance both have '00 and '01 monte's. Both of their window switches on driver side went bad. I thought it was pretty funny. Both cars are having the issues about a month or so ahead of one another. Guest Posted October 17, 2012 Report Posted October 17, 2012 yeah? fucking chevy haha. the auto down feature on the existing switch doesn't even work, which kind of made me nudge even more towards the switch being bad.
