Nick_L
Im looking to buy a PowerMaster to go under the hood of my Civic and I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a difference between the 5100 and the 5100R (besides the name) ..... All the info I could find on the two was the same..... Any help would be awesome!
xseveredveganx
It's the "R"! It stands for reverse post. The + and - are reversed. It all depends on where your + and - are on your stock batt.
Nick_L
So realistically it shouldn't make a big difference in the whole grand scheme of things considering i will be installing an alt at the same time and will be doing the big 3 upgrade etc.
Nick_L
Or if theyre not reversed on my stock battery couldnt I just mount the 5100R backwards? Seems like it could work... The reason is Summit cant ship the 5100 for about 3 weeks but the 5100R can ship today.....
automediapro
yeah, the R is just offered for people like me that didn't want to have to make anything fit in my honda.
E a r t h
For reference, the reverse post is because the posts are at one end of the top side of battery. You cant just flip it 180 if using stock length oem cables cuz they are not long enough to reach toward the firewall side where the posts would be if you flip the batt around. If the posts were in the middle from the factory, this wouldn't be an issue. This is why civics need reverse posts, I know cuz I have a civic. I thought that to back in the day when I tried it and it didn't work. If you have aftermarket cables, you prolly made em longer just for this reason and you wont have a problem with either battery. This is only for oem equipped vehicle cables.
