97 Z71 Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 I will be running 2 12" kicker compvr's and kicker 11xd1000.1 the box is sealed not open in middle should I port it? http://www.bargainunlimited.net/servlet/the-3288/99-dsh-UP-GMC-fdsh-CHEVY-XCAB-DUAL/Detail check link for box
mttornquist Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 you should build your own ported box. My Build Log: http://www.stevemead...lmost-complete/
Tim Lam Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 i would always port! but with an enclosure like that(oddly shapped, not a traditional rectangle) it might be difficult to compute tuning, port length and all that fun stuff.
97 Z71 Posted October 23, 2012 Author Report Posted October 23, 2012 I have already bought the box just gonna add if I should
mttornquist Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 awww shucks, if you can get it to work out right with tuning then for sure port it!! My Build Log: http://www.stevemead...lmost-complete/
97 Z71 Posted October 23, 2012 Author Report Posted October 23, 2012 I'm gonna give it a try without port when subs get her, i'm a newbie at this so if I decide to I might just take it to my local audio shop. I just don't think I will have enough air space
Jessica Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 A sealed box most likely will be too small to just convert to ported. Most subs need a bigger enclosure when ported. Just leave the box sealed or build your own ported. Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. My super random youtube channel and terrible camera work. HypnotizedMind 91666 Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 Lol gotta love newbies. You don't study this stuff at all before you buy? in a million, trillion, kabillion years,i would never play that song in my ride. I don't care if its clipped or not LOL. I feel like my nads got clipped after playing this for 15 seconds just to see what it was LOL. No thanks bro. Not into it.
Tim Lam Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 hmmm well with the dimensions given, WIDTH= 56" BOTTOM DEPTH= 17" TOP DEPTH= 15" HEIGHT=13 1/2" and with the price, im assuming it to be 1/2" MDF which comes out to be 5.97 cubes. ****(note idk if the calculator i used can be applicable to your application) so for those subs, i suggest a nice 32hz tuning. also for a SLOT port, i suggest a 3"x 12" port that would need to be ~12.5" long for a round/aero port(6 inches in diameter) it would need to be ~9.2" long hopes this helps!
