DGross Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 hello im new to the forum here and have a couple of questions. i am used to big speakers and big boxes taking up lots of room. I just bought a 2003 dodge ram qc. i am looking to put some subs in it but want it to look ast stock as possible and to retain as emuch of the funtionality that i can of it. i have seen there are some inclosures that are built to go under the rear seats. i guess my question would be what size speaker i should go with, should it be a shallow mount speaker or standard, single or dual speaker set up? then what kind of box, mdf or fiberglass. then sealed or ported. for the amp i have a 2600 watt rms kicker amp. trying to figure out the best option. then if i have to go shallow mount subs what brand etc. This is my first small space system trying to get it set up and sounding right.

And i would go with 2 12's, i know they make a box like above for 2 of them. And i don't know how you would port one of those, and make sure you know the mounting depth of your box, then base subs off that. DGross Posted October 31, 2012 Author Report Posted October 31, 2012 ive got 2 12 pioneer premiers but im worried about the amount of airflow needed for them to sound good. had them in the old jeep i had with two weaker amps and hit i think 150db could be off by one or two db, and factory interiors. i figured sealed would be the way to go. i have seen the pre made boxes for the truck, and prices go from 90-300 all mdf.

Oh boyyy, you THINK you hit a 150 with a couple 12" pioneer premiers? Please don't talk about numbers .) There are plenty of guys that have made boxes for that truck on this forum. Read more around here and then figure out what you want to do. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
DGross Posted October 31, 2012 Author Report Posted October 31, 2012 wasnt talking numbers to compete with anyone sir just looking to get my ideal set up. i have come across some people that have have trucks and put in speakers that have air flow issues with barely any bass i just dont want to do that.

If you're starting out, find someone that can build you a good box for under the seat. A lot of guys have been really impressed with the Sundown E series. A couple of downfired 10s would likely sound good I'm your truck. Have you ever built any boxes? Do you have any tools to build box? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
