So, being the great big brother I am I offered to build a subwoofer box for my little brothers subwoofer, and I may of gotten in a little over my head. I've researched online about the different kinds of calculators for building subwoofer boxes, they confuse me I won't lie. Obviously cutting out wood and all that shit is cake, but as far as tuning the box, how would one go about that? I'm looking to make a pretty large box (big, but yet small enough to fit a trunk of a mitsiubishi galant) for a 10" Alpine type x. Please help box experts :)

Shit, I'll design you one cause I'm bored. Do you have any idea what he might want it tuned to or what kind of music he listens to? Also some max trunk dimensions and knowing what size amp you'll be putting to is some needed info.

What the f**k is an appropriate signature supposed to look like?

The exact model of the sub would be necessary as well as the amp model.

So here is a suggestion:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 33 Hz

Vb = 1.5 ft^3

External Height = 13 in

External Width = 24.75 in

External Depth = 16 in

Port Width = 1 7/8 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

2 x Front & Back (3 parts) = 24 3/4 x 13

Left & Right Sides = 13 3/4 x 11 1/2

Top & Bottom = 24 3/4 x 13 3/4

L Port Internal Assembly Parts:

Front to Back = 11 7/8 x 11 1/2

Extension = 15 x 11 1/2

Assembly guide (generic dimensions):

Any changes let me know.

  • 4 years later...

You could cut the hole in the center of the front panel, or off to the side like its shown in the picture. It won't make much difference either way.
