Wicks Posted November 3, 2012 Report Share Posted November 3, 2012 It may simply have been fixed recently. That smell is hard to get rid of. If you're going to test it, make sure it's properly fused. Don't connect a load (speakers) yet, just a power supply (battery) and see what it does. When powered test the output and look for DC voltage...that's a bad thing. Feel the heatsink and see if it gets hot with no load. But I would send it to Steve @ ZED Audio anyways if it needs repair. He might be able to upgrade a few things as well will inside it. He has repaired Many different brand amps for me over the years.
