old school AUTOTEK MM50.4????

well guys i bought a as-is autotek mm50.4 on ebay it smells like burn but when i opened it everything looks good any ideas??? i still dont test it

no burn/brown marks near the mosfets? (they're under those metal clip thingies near the squished marshmallow looking components)

It may simply have been fixed recently.

That smell is hard to get rid of.

If you're going to test it, make sure it's properly fused.

Don't connect a load (speakers) yet, just a power supply (battery) and see what it does.

When powered test the output and look for DC voltage...that's a bad thing.

Feel the heatsink and see if it gets hot with no load.

my hifonics z4406 stoped working back in 10 or 09 and i hooked it up the other day and it started working again

same thing happened to my memphis pr150.2, worked fine for years and all of a studden stoped working, and now works again, lol

with cover off, check to see if any componits are touching, i think thats what happened to my hifonics, and wiggle caps around to see if there loose, one of mine was bent over but others were str8 up and down

i hate it when maxxonics does those double boards like that, my hifonics amp looks just like that on the inside lol

That looks to be a new style Autotek as it has NO ZED Audio mark on the board I can see. But I would send it to Steve @ ZED Audio anyways if it needs repair. He might be able to upgrade a few things as well will inside it. He has repaired Many different brand amps for me over the years. GREAT Work @ Good Price.
