XxshadowdawgxX
Dear SMD Forum members, I recently purchased a Fi Sp4 18'' and I need to build a new box for it. I have the sub in my old box for my Fi Q 18'' which is a 10 cube box and I need to downsize to a new 8 cube box. I want a box that is 8 cubes and is tuned to roughly 28hz with around 110-120 square inches of port. I drive a chevy trailblazer and my max dimensions are 42 width x 28 length x 25 height. Everytime I type all my info in the12volt to get a port it says i need a port length of like 40-50 inches depending on which measurements I use which is astronomical. I was wondering if theres a way to get around this and yet keep my massive port area along with box size and tuning. Thank you all!!!
wcefai
Well larger ports have to be longer to keep tuning low. So my suggestion would to just shrink port area or make a long, short box with a crazy long L port

Joe X
Well 110-120 square inches is not really massive for that sub, here is a suggestion within your dims: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 30 Hz Vb = 8.2 ft^3 External Height = 21.375 in External Width = 45 in External Depth = 24.25 in Port Width = 30 in Port Height = 3 5/8 in Cut Sheet List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: 2 x Top & Bottom (3 parts) = 45 x 24 1/4 Left & Right Sides = 22 3/4 x 19 1/8 Front & Back = 45 x 19 1/8 L Port Internal Assembly Parts: Front to Back = 19 1/8 x 31 1/2 Extension = 4 3/4 x 31 1/2 Port Left Side Assembly: 19 1/8 x 3 5/8 9 1/8 x 3 5/8 Port Right Side Assembly: 19 1/8 x 3 5/8 9 1/8 x 3 5/8 Assembly guide (generic dimensions): You will need 3 5/8" of free airspace in front of the port for it to work properly. Any questions let me know.
XxshadowdawgxX
Well 110-120 square inches is not really massive for that sub, here is a suggestion within your dims: Enclosure Specifications: Fb = 29 Hz Vb = 8 ft^3 External Height = 20.25 in External Width = 42 in External Depth = 28 in Port Width = 29 in Port Height = 3 7/8 in Cut Sheet List: * All Dimensions in Inches. * Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts. External Enclosure Parts: 2 x Top & Bottom (3 parts) = 42 x 28 Left & Right Sides = 26 1/2 x 18 Front & Back = 42 x 18 L Port Internal Assembly Parts: Front to Back = 22 5/8 x 30 1/2 Extension = 5 x 30 1/2 Port Left Side Assembly: 22 5/8 x 3 7/8 9 5/8 x 3 7/8 Port Right Side Assembly: 22 5/8 x 3 7/8 9 5/8 x 3 7/8 Assembly guide (generic dimensions): You will need 3 7/8" of free airspace in front of the port for it to work properly. Any questions let me know. This is awesome and I would gladly use this. Only thing is that 28inch length puts the port directly at my backdoor. So therefore the port wouldn't have room to breath and it would choke. But this is beyond awesome besides that part which you could not have known. Joe X
Updated the box above, the spec is not exactly as you requested but the change is likely inaudible.

XxshadowdawgxX
Updated the box above, the spec is not exactly as you requested but the change is likely inaudible. Hey Joe, You've helped me tremendously in the past for building boxes and they are amazing. Sadly my Fi Sp4 18'' is gone =(. I did get two new 12'' PSI Platform 2's with triple stacked RE magnets though. I was wondering if you could help me out again and throw me a design based on the following parameters. Box Width Max - 38''... Perfectly fine to make it 38'' I'd prefer it Box Height Max - 16.5''...Preferably 16'' if possible Box Depth Max - up to 25''...Prefer this to be as small as possible though considering this one will depend on how much trunk room I'll have. Driver volume - .16 ft^3....Multiply by 2 of course cause there are two Desired Volume/Tuning Frequency - 5 ft^3 and 28hz Thank you so much Joe. Message me your address or paypal something and I can send you a gift card for all the wonderful things you do for me and others. Thanks!
