bassface Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 im getting 8.3 cu ft after displacement of subs, port and wall thickness displacement. With the exterior box size of 18, 40, 30.
AGuyWithAJeep Posted November 11, 2012 Author Report Posted November 11, 2012 I completly forgot about displacement of subs:/ sorry like i said im fairly new to this still
Eturnulrs704 Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 Hey new guy here, thought i would add on. with the specs he gave his box would be 12.5 cu in.. when he only needs 9.5 internal vol. so if say he wanted the factory tune of 34.59 Hz his port size would be, if the port was 10in high 5 in wide then the lenth would need to be 6.02.. if im not mistaken. but he would need to provide port height and width that he would want to use, correct? and thats with .75 in mdf. JL automatically adds sub displacement from what i understood. At least thats what a JL rep told me when i asked about my 2 x 13.5 w6's
bassface Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 I doubt he wants factory tune, 32hz seems to be the max tune here. I also think the port size really depends on what you are going for, maximum output or a flatter response.

Guest Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 what is this "factory tune" you guys keep talking about?
bassface Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 Im guessing its a pre fab tune from jl.
BobbyG2 Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 Subs up, double baffle, port rear, didn't account for bracing (when bracing is added the net cu.ft. will drop slightly, and tuning will raise slightly, and port sq.in per cu.ft will go up slightly) Port is centered along the bottom sharing a common wall with the bottom of the enclosure. Someone might be able to fix up a better enclosure, but this one will work fine. *New vehicle and system coming soon.*
AGuyWithAJeep Posted November 12, 2012 Author Report Posted November 12, 2012 Any suggestions for bracing?
BobbyG2 Posted November 12, 2012 Report Posted November 12, 2012 A lot of people like to use threaded steel rods. You can use wooden dowels. Even 2x4's. *New vehicle and system coming soon.*
