8=Drake Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 I'm really interested in the sundown SA-12, and the DC level 3...and i need to know how they do in a SEALED box. i dont have room for ported, so please don't say "just port it at 1.75ft^3" because i can't. i have found very little useful information on these subs sealed, and get biased answers from dealers. so help a brotha out. I had a 12w6v2 sealed and it hit well while maintaining solidddd SQ. blew it though. mainly focused on getting as low and deep as the w6 did without having to spend 350 on the driver alone. i know these subs listed above are more SPL oriented, but my research shows that these are the best choices for the price NOTE: assume the sub stated will be supplied clean power and in the recommended SEALED enclosure space and if you have any other suggestions for my situation, go for it. my budget for the sub alone is no more than 220. THIS IS NOT A VS THREAD
Trey_Dog650 Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 Why not do a 10 ported? 13 Kia Forte Build! 07 Hyundai Accent Build ***Super Seller*** N8ball2013 And then he gets to say ok all you guys were right. im sorry for being a dummy poo poo head.
Sonic Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 ssa gcon 12 will perform better in a sealed box, you can get it right now on sale for 194.
Rmichael91 Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 It also depends on how much power your throwing at it. Personally, I'm a Sundown and Skarr fan. I haven't physically seen much of DC but I know they make some beefy subs that drop some ass
8=Drake Posted November 26, 2012 Author Report Posted November 26, 2012 havent considered a gcon, ill look into that. and as for power, for the SA id give it a clean 800 watts...unless more is recommended. anyone with personal experience on any of these subs SEALED?
Guest Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 you must have half a brain then if you cant find sealed box specs for both of those woofers. it took me 30 seconds to find them. http://sundownaudio.com/index.php/products/subwoofers/item/sa-series.html?category_id=2 http://dcsoundlab.com/level3.html
8=Drake Posted November 26, 2012 Author Report Posted November 26, 2012 you must have half a brain if you can't read the posts above. I'm not looking for the box specs, im well familiar with them. im trying to decide which sub to buy based on the information stated. i can't find much helpful information concerning the performance of these subs in a sealed enclosure as compared to my previous set up. so im trying to get as much input as possible and am also open to other suggestions as far as a sealed 12 goes.
Guest Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 no one can tell you which would be louder. and no post on the internet can tell you either. every car is different. one car may be louder with one of them, and another car may be louder with the other one. its impossible to tell you which will perform better. flip a coin.
8=Drake Posted November 26, 2012 Author Report Posted November 26, 2012 so both subs would perform relatively the same is what youre saying, yeah?
Guest Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 since they're both 600w woofers (i know there are many more factors besides power handling), theoretically they should perform at around the same level.
