62caddy Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 Hey everyone! I just scored a slammed '99 2wd 4 door Tahoe that I want to put a couple of 18s in. I wanna go with two FI's SSD series 18s, each powered off of one Rockford T10001BD (one amp per sub). I've read that RE's box calculator is crap, and that Torres is the way to go. However, I am NOT very computer savvy and would rather just give someone $20 to throw together a set of plans with cut sheet for this box. I will go out later today and take measurements of the cargo compartment (I'm nearing the end of my lunch break, but wanted to throw this out now). I have no problem with the woodworking portion, but the computer portion is what's stumping me. FI recommends 6-10 cubes @ 33 hz per sub, and displacement per sub is 0.22 cubic feet. My initial thought is slot ported, but I will build whatever would be best for these subs. Also, I plan to use 3/4" MDF doubled up for strength, so 1.5" wood thickness. This box will not be light-weight by any means. Let me know if you're up to make a quick $20 to make and e-mail me the planz! But post pics of the hoe I have one myself I'd like to drop Hey man, 40" deep (tail gate to top of back seat), 48" wide (between wheel wells), and I'd like to have the box 26" tall MAX. I want the port facing the rear and the subs up-firing if possible. I'll throw up some pics tonight! Everything is very straight-forward, except I'm having trouble visualizing how the port is layed out. Is it open on the back inside the box? And to make sure, the port dimensions are 36.5" wide x 15.5" deep x 5" tall, right? Are those measurements for the inside of the port or outside of the port? Joe X Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 The port is 35x5 as stated at the top, the dimensions of the cuts are made the size needed for the parts to assemble. Regarding the comment above, the box can be downsized to 22.5 Minimum height (6 cubes per sub) which is not very different to 25 in. Anyhow it would be nice to know the height to the roof in your vehicle.
