BobbyG2
Just something I was wondering. I wonder if you could get all headunits to max volume if you put resistors on the RCAs? I know I personally would never go above the clipping point on my own head unit, but I think this would be a good idea for if I were to tune a system for a friend who might be more prone to ignore my advice and turn it up past clipping anyways? *New vehicle and system coming soon.*
Tim Lam
if they're dumb enough to crank it, in spit of you advice, you'll just have to let them learn the hard way.
Wicks
What are you thinking the resistors will do? All they will really do is provide some sort of resistor divider at the amp and reduce your signal which is not a good thing. The HU clips because its over-driving an internal signal. The HU has its own "pre-amplifier" circuitry with its own power rails. When the internal signal is pushed past those power rails then it clips. There is nothing you can do externally to the HU to avoid that other than keeping the settings below the clipping point which is completely up to the user. BobbyG2
That was pretty much the answer I was looking for, thank you! *New vehicle and system coming soon.*
