I want to do a ported box at the maxmum width of my hatchback, but keeping it to the minimum. Looking for a SQ>SPL design. Smaller design, subs up, port back? Maybe?

My safe dimensions are 39Wx25Dx19H. I'd like it slim being that I'm almost always hauling some sort of crap around. Also, I want to take into account the placement of my amps. Not sure if I should mount them to the box? Back of the seat?

I listen to mostly metal and my subs handle the bass drops and kick drum. I don't know what I should tune the box too, but I shouldn't need it super low.

Can someone help me with a design?

So here is a suggestion:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 34.3 Hz

Vb = 2.3 ft^3

External Height = 16 in

External Width = 35 in

External Depth = 18 in

Port Width = 2 1/2 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

Top & Bottom = 35 x 18

Left & Right Sides = 16 1/2 x 14 1/2

2x Front = 16 1/4 x 14 1/2

Back = 35 x 14 1/2

Shared Port Internal Assembly Parts:

2 x Front to Back = 15 1/4 x 14 1/2

2 x Extension = 10 7/8 x 14 1/2

Assembly guide (generic dimensions):

TPort1.jpg

Subsonic filter to 30Hz, wire coils in series subs in parallel.

Let me know an questions/changes.

Few questions. I know this would totally throw off your design, but is there a way we could do a wedge with 2 depths? I wanted it to conform with my backseat so I would have more hatchback space. I THINK I would have to then put a tubed port?

I don't think you will be gaining that much depth but I guess it can be tried, certainly you have to be able to do really nice slanted cuts or you can get leaks and such. I try not to suggest slanted boxes except if it's absolutely necessary like in single cabs. A single 6" aero can do the job, aimed sideways in case is too long to fit aimed back.

ok then. I'm not comfortable with cutting the slanted angles. Let's mess with the depth and width. Can we make the width 39in. and compensate the depth?
