scooter99 Posted December 2, 2013 Author Report Posted December 2, 2013 Ok guys, here's a video review and tutorial of the Surebonder Threaded Insert tool. It's kind of long, but for those who need it, I think I explained in pretty good detail. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
Wicks Posted December 3, 2013 Report Posted December 3, 2013 Good luck with that Surebonder. Didn't see my review on it did ya? I saw Mark's (CAF) review and bought one a while ago. I had the same issues as you on the inserts. It worked decent for 8-32 inserts but I needed to step up to 1/4" inserts which worked for a few times. .......then the hinge mechanism stripped out and the unit basically broke in half. Take a close look at the internals of the hinge, you'll see that there isn't much to support the leverage. I found another tool that has been working much better. scooter99 Posted December 3, 2013 Author Report Posted December 3, 2013 I totally forgot about that. Which one did you get again? I need to go back through your build. Need to look at your fuse panel again. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
Wicks Posted December 3, 2013 Report Posted December 3, 2013 I totally forgot about that. Which one did you get again? I need to go back through your build. Need to look at your fuse panel again. I ran through my build. My Surebonder crapped out on me last November ~30th. Looks like I didn't post much about the new one. I'll dig around and see if I can find it. As far as flocking my fuse panel cover. I thought about it and I could, but since it interfaces with my tilting amp rack, I'm thinking it may get some wear marks on it. Might get wear marks anyway on a painted surface so who knows..... Wicks Posted December 3, 2013 Report Posted December 3, 2013 OK, here we go: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAE-HAND-NUT-RIVET-GUN-NUT-ALL-ALUMINUM-40-INSERTS-10-EA-6-32-8-32-10-24-1-4-20-/271279349991?pt=US_Hand_Tools&hash=item3f298260e7 Mine had SAE and Metric inserts which I couldn't find, but if you just want SAE then this should be fine. A bit more expensive, but worth it since its built a LOT better then the Surebonder. scooter99 Posted December 3, 2013 Author Report Posted December 3, 2013 Thanks for the post on that. I think SAE is fine. It does look sturdier than the surebonder. I may just wait thought and see if this thing will hold up through this build. I don't have a bunch of extra money right now, so another $60 will hurt at the moment. scooter99 Posted December 9, 2013 Author Report Posted December 9, 2013 Ok guys, here's what's up. I know this has gotten a little stagnant. It's been colder than hell here, I know even for Sacramento. Aside of that, we've been seriously busy lately. Birthday parties, and other things. I have a new life change going on. I'm got a new job with the State Of CA. Basically doing the same thing I do now, office work, but I'll be working at a Prison, an then after 6 months, I can start looking into plans to move up and around. But getting on with the state was the first step. I'm also requesting a couple weeks off. If that goes through, then I'll have two weeks to build. I'm going to seriously try to get the whole build done in those two weeks, because with the new job, I'm working from 6am-2pm, and then I'll have to work a second part time job, with my current employer, to make up for the money I'm going to be losing. So time will not be on my side to work after I start the new job. I'll get some stuff updated soon guys. Sorry it's been slow. I'm still planning on having it playing by Autorama in February.
