Hose15 Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 ok i plan on putting a stereo system in my car and i know i need to get a bigger alternator and my question is when choosing a bigger alternator do i go by the amperage or is there othe details i need to pay attention to?

Hose15 Posted December 4, 2012 Author Report Posted December 4, 2012 i wasn't going to extreme i was just planning on putting two 10" subs and a 1500 watt amp i have done something like this before in a car i had and i fried the alternator in it but now i have a new car and i have no clue what the amp rating is on a stock alternator in a 1999 honda accord i just want to make sure i won't have any issues i already have the jvc deck installed and aftermarket speakers and if i remeber correctly the speakers even have there own amplifiers also

Rmichael91 Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 I've personally never seen a speaker with a built in amp, only crossover which leads me to assume your running 2way speakers. With an 80amp stock alternator I'd suggest doing the big 3 in 1/0 or 0ga and adding atleast one reserve battery and possibly replacing your stock battery under the hood. »»edit: Ninja'd ^^«« -Ryan

They are low priced but not quite quality in my opinion. What brand of 10s are you running or going to? What's your budget for your build? I'd just rather you get your moneys worth than need to replace an amp down the road. -Ryan
