Nate Dogg 51 Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Hello, So I just ordered a Re Sex12 and im looking to make my own box. I have 2 kicker comps right now and the box is close to 70lbs. I mainly want to get something just as loud but lighter. So I bought the Sex which is about the same weight as both kickers, and hopefully the new box I build will be lighter. So I have a kicker zx750.1 to power it which should be a pretty good match for the sub. Mainly I was wondering about a few box building techniques and specs. First off I watched exo's box building series and he uses the re audio box calculator which is probably what ill use, since its more simple than Torres. The optimal specs for the sub are 2.0cu^ft at 34hz. I was thinking of doing the same but maybe 32hz. Exo says to use the port walls a different way than 99% of all boxes I've ever seen. He says to take the one parallel with the subs and turn in perpendicular like the one next to it. Is this a good thing to do? Im probably going to make 45's as well, Id like to do flush mount but I would have to use 2 sheets on the front which would add to the weight. Ill probably round the port walls like he does and the exterior as well. So basically any tips or anything I should know. My dad has a router, table saw, skill saw, jigsaw, orbital sanders etc so I should be fine in that department. Just let me know about the whole EXO port construction. iKidwell Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 use torres, i don't see how anything could be more simple. But for common port walls, all you do is add up the number of the sides of the box that is an actual structural piece of the box, if that makes sense, like it has to be on the outside of the box. c'mon now, if i was shooting an 8 year old, it wouldnt be MY 8 year old. i recently got a Pyle PL1590BL and i was building an enclosure for it tuned to 25 hz. i didn't have any tools to cut a circle so i hit it with a big hammer. 2003 Infiniti G35 Sport Sedan Build in Progress
