CNF Kevosinn Posted December 9, 2012 Report Posted December 9, 2012 Hey guys im finally starting on my first "big" build......for me anyways.....and Im planning on running 2 batteries. I have a yellow top under the hood and was thinking about getting a kinetik hc 800 for the trunk area. I read somewhere that to link batteries together they have to be identical or you have to use an isolator if they are different. If I put an isolator wont the power for the amp be pulled only from the rear battery? If so the hc-800 will not have nearly enough power for my set up. DFWxB Posted December 9, 2012 Report Posted December 9, 2012 The isolator only disconnects the 2 batteries when the vehicle is turned off to keep the lower charged battery from discharging the better... when the isolator is activated it allows both batts to work together... basically its a high amp relay...
