Rev. Wrath
Also could be the Idle Air Control Motor. Ford I.A.C. motors are notorious for getting weaker with age. The motor starts to slow down and will usually cause the car to die imediatly after starting, but I suppose high idle could be possible too. Either way it's something else you could look into. mikelbolton
I agree, check the IAC, although this usually causes rough idle, even after heating up. It is not out of the ordinary for newer cars to idle higher when first cranked up. Cars with heated oxygen sensors have to get to operating temperatures faster to keep the O2 sensor from fouling out. Once it reaches normal operating temperature, the idles should return to normal. 3k sounds a little high to be normal to me though. Does the car throw any Diagnostic codes? Typically if you have a Throttle Position Sensor issue, the CEL will illuminate. That can also cause the car to die when rolling to stop signs, and misfiring under acceleration. I'll check and see if there are any TSBs on high idle, when I get back to the house. 2011 Chevrolet Aveo(click for build log)Clarion NX-603SKAR 4500.1DIraggi 320A alt Knukonceptz 1/0 Kollosus Fleks Cable8 AWG Sky High Car Audio OFC 1/0- Sky High Car Audio 2- XP3000 XS Power BatteriesSMD VM-12- 12" Ascendant Audio Mayhems Toolmaker Fuse block Toolmaker Bus Bars (Last Season scores 1-15" Mayhem) 145.2 dB- Sealed @ NSPL World Finals (9/28/14) 148.1 dB- Hardcore @ NSPL World Finals (9/27/14) 150.23-- Hardcore on 4500 Watts!!!! 02 GAGT
I would say its a vacuum leak cause my car would idle at 1000 RPM when it's normal idle is 650 RPM, turns out a fitting popped outta the valve cover when I did the LIM, so check for vacuum leaks by spraying carb cleaner around the LIM and UIM and the TB, if you don't understand look at Scotty kilmers video how to check for a vacuum leak

OrionStang
I had a 2000 V6, IAC went bad and the car idled high lke you explain. With the car running, I unplugged the IAC and the idle would drop, plug it back in and the idle would jump back up. $84.
