Dale
well seeing as im only pulling like 75 odd amps and my batt is still dying, I would assume its much smaller than yours I'm guessing your alt. is no more than ~80 Amps peak. Dale
that still doesnt tell me what I need too do?!?! Scratchy, if you have the bigger battery in the back on an isolator, it will still be charged Here's wha to do: GET an isolator : http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5287.html PUT the BIG battery in the back near the amps MAKE all necessary connections from isolator VOILA

Dale
and how much is an isolater? What will happen if I dont have one? In this link: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5287.html , the isolator there is $50. It is capable of handling a current passage of 200 AMPS. If you do not have an isolator, then when playing your music while your car is off, your battery under the hood will also be depleted. If it's depleted too much along with those in the back, then you WILL need a jump. Furthermore, if it's not a deep cycle battery, then you have just shortened its lifespan. So this is what the isolator does: Like the name suggests, it isolates two different circuits. Circuit one: Your battery upfront and everything connected to it (Your engine starter). Circuit Two: Your battery/batteries in the back (connected to your amps). Note: both batteries will be charged by the alternator, the isolator just prevents the battery in the back from sharing current with the one in the front. So if you have your car off while playing music and your battery in the back dies, then you could still start your car and charge up.
scratchy
I wont be playing music with the car off. Just 2 x 6second burps is all I need. The front battery hasnt run out while doing a comp with the car of yet. So I will B ok? then im rambo bitch

But I still think you should keep the big battery in the back...know what I mean?
scratchy
well I just got back from a battery specialist. He recomended a red top, but its way outa my price range ($315) We tested a single deltec 105ah(think it was 700 cca) and the voltage stays at 12 odd volt at the batt, but drops down too 9-10ish at the amp. If I buy this batt, then I cant afford 4gauge too run back too the batt. What I thought I could do was buy the deltec, charge it full before the comp. Then the first two runs(db drag) I can use my small stock battery just too get to semi finals.(dont need too push that hard) then for semi's I can run the amp connected to the battery(battery isolated from everything including the alt.) Then for finals(if I make it that far. Put replace the front battery with the deltec and run it with the car on. Would that work? then im rambo bitch
Dale
That sounds like a plan ;D How much amplifier power do you have?
