I've got two JL 12w3v3s 4ohm 500w RMS single coil in a ported box not sure what Hz. Thinking of getting a used JBL GTO 14001 or Alpine MRP-M1000. Would "down gaining" be easy with the JBL w DMM method? It's 1500 RMS at 2 ohm some body recommended it to me over the Alpine.

It´s nice to have a vew more watt´s. Otherwise you need the electrical to back up this power!. 1500 watt´s are arround 150 amp´s of extra draw to your electrical system.

What kind of batt´s and how many did you have in the car, did you have a H/O alt?

A nicer option for a 1000 watt amp, is the Soundstream reference series http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SOUNDSTREAM-REFERENCE-REF1-1000-1000-WATT-RMS-MONO-SUBWOOFER-AMPLIFIER-/150942024117?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item2324d881b5&vxp=mtr for a selloutprice. Beautifull amps in class G technic, Class G

combine the advantages of class AB (sound) and Class D (efficiency), only negative big as f...

t all started 9/28/12 I purchased my first Wrangler. A 1995 4.0 with the AX-15 5 Speed. I did a few minor things to it after I bought it but I was mainly preparing for the audio build (as stated in my signature). The one thing I did do was spend $2500 on a custom built hardtop that arrived on 12/7/12, my dad and I drove 50 miles south in the rain to put it on, in the rain... My new Kenwood head unit arrived 12/12 and so did my RF T1 4x6s both installed the same day. My center console arrived the next day and was installed right away.

I don't have a h/o alt I'm a little new to this so I'm not sure what that is. I'm hoping to avoid extra batteries if possible, would that be possible with 1000w? I wouldn't mind replacing my battery with a nicer one, it's just a stock battery from a 99 toyota camry I think.

That amp looks nice. I think it's the same one used for the bench test I had done on these. Definitely seems like it will want more than one battery though. Maybe I should've thought about that before buying two 12s lol.

If you had a good sized XS Power Battery up front, you could run 1-1,500rms for daily.

edit: h/o alt, ho alt, etc. is all High Output Alternator, i.e. more than stock output. Most are around 200+ amps.
