I just bought a DC lvl 4 12" and I need some help on designing the ported enclosure.

My max dimensions are 33w x 13h x 12-14d tuned to 33-35 he for music.

Powered off a Mb quart onx1600.1D.

Would like to stay around those dimensions but depth is really the only thing that can be changed.

Going in a 05 Subaru sti if that helps.

Here is a suggestion:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 34.5 Hz

Vb = 1.7 ft^3

External Height = 13 in

External Width = 33 in

External Depth = 14 in

Port Width = 2 3/8 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

2 x Front & Back (3 parts) = 33 x 13

Left & Right Sides = 11 3/4 x 11 1/2

Top & Bottom = 33 x 11 3/4

L Port Internal Assembly Parts:

Front to Back = 9 3/8 x 11 1/2

Extension = 17 x 11 1/2

Assembly guide (generic dimensions):

- The 45s if you want to do them are 2 1/2" wide except the one/ones inside the port, if you want to do that let me know.

- All trunk boxes built outside the car need to fit in their way in not just have the right dimensions.

- The port needs 2 3/8" of free airspace in front of it for proper operation.

- Setting your amp's subsonic filter to 28Hz is suggested.

Overlooked this was your first box ever, it turned out very nice. You may try flipping your box so that the port is on the driver side, most people like the results better, also you can try firing forward port driver's side as well.

It should work well as long as you accounted for the driver displacement in your calculations.

theres a square hole on the side of the sealed box. hope you cover that up, otherwise the box is useless.

Square hole is for the terminals. I'm still working on a way to sink it in to cover it up with silicone and take another piece of wood drill two small holes for the speaker wire then fill it with silicone and hopefully that will be pretty air tight. I will only be using that box on road trips.If all fails I still have more scrape wood laying around. So far the mini box is just being painted/plasti dip.

Should i just give it full power or wire up for less watts?

Not sure if that box can even take 1600wrms. No bracing or double baffles. Just striaght up 3/4 mdf, glue, lots of screws and silicone.

Just be aware that if the box leaks bad at some point you can bottom out the sub easily.

Also it's pretty easy to place a front to back crossbrace like it is right now.
