Not just some sloppy laid carbon fiber, but something really, really nice. Glossy on all sides as if the "box" itself was the gift. Make it absolutely beautiful! And inside would be a gift of some sort wrapped up just loosely enough that it rattles and moves around inside so they know there is something in there. They can hear it, but they can't see it, and hey have no idea what it is. The trick is, they would have to destroy the beautiful carbon fiber gift box to get to the gift inside. So they have a decision to make, destroy the box to see what is inside, or keep the beautiful box.
