dereileak
well I have been contemplating doing 1 DC Level XL, but I just kinda looked into the SA-12 Sundown subs, and was considering maybe doing something with them. I was just wondering if putting 2 SA-12's, which say they are good for 600rms on an amp (kicker 11zx2500.1) that does 2845RMS @14.4 would be too much for them? that would be pushing 1400 rms when the voltage stays up there, and would drop to around 1250rms each when the voltage goes down to 12.5 or so. This would be a daily setup, tuned to around 30-34hz or so. I know box rise would change how much they get when going above the fs and tuning frequency, but it would be getting full power when getting do low around 33hz. Price wise this would fit my budget more, and from what I have read sundowns have really great sound quality Quote 2006 Mazda3 Hatchback Black 5 Spd ManualPioneer 4300DVD2 Sundown SA-12 (34hz Tune, 3.22 cubes, 14.5 inches per cube, Triple Baffle)Kicker 10ZX2500.1 (2845 RMS) Sub AmpKicker 11ZX650.4 (705 RMS) Mid Amp -- (3 Amps)Kicker KQ3 Active CrossoverKicker KQ30 EqualizerKicker 09QS60.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones)Kicker 09QS65.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones) - (3 Sets)2/0 Gauge Electron Beam Technologies (3 Runs, 2 +, 1 -) 1/0 Gauge KNU Kollasal Flex (1 Run for -) 300 Ft Kicker X-Series 16 Gauge Speaker WireXS Power D3400 (Rear)XS Power D3100 (Front)Singer Externally Regulated Alternator (Being Built)+ The Love for Car Audio and BASS <3UBL Build Log <------- Click Here-------> Normal Build Log (For Comments)

I have a friend that ran two of the SA 15s on a AQ2200 zero problems daily, never got hot or smelly, just keep it clean!!! if I am pushing that much power then I would want to design the box a bit smaller am I right? they recommend 1.5-2.0 ft^3 @ 35hz, so doing like 3.0 cubes total? also I saw they like low tuning like down in the 29hz range, what would you do for them since they will be getting lots of extra power Edited January 2, 2013 by dereileak Quote 2006 Mazda3 Hatchback Black 5 Spd ManualPioneer 4300DVD2 Sundown SA-12 (34hz Tune, 3.22 cubes, 14.5 inches per cube, Triple Baffle)Kicker 10ZX2500.1 (2845 RMS) Sub AmpKicker 11ZX650.4 (705 RMS) Mid Amp -- (3 Amps)Kicker KQ3 Active CrossoverKicker KQ30 EqualizerKicker 09QS60.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones)Kicker 09QS65.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones) - (3 Sets)2/0 Gauge Electron Beam Technologies (3 Runs, 2 +, 1 -) 1/0 Gauge KNU Kollasal Flex (1 Run for -) 300 Ft Kicker X-Series 16 Gauge Speaker WireXS Power D3400 (Rear)XS Power D3100 (Front)Singer Externally Regulated Alternator (Being Built)+ The Love for Car Audio and BASS <3UBL Build Log <------- Click Here-------> Normal Build Log (For Comments)

In a daily build, I wouldn't be scared to put a nice 4k amp on a pair, but that would be my limit. I would guess on SPL side of things, burp only probably about 5k each and they would say fuck it I'm out!!! I just think its insane they rated them at 600rms, and people are throwing 1000rms-2000rms per sub and they take it, they should have put 1000rms on the site, but oh well, if they can take my zx2500.1 then I am definatly highly considering these, price wise for subs they seem like a no brainer, I saw them going for $195 online, I gotta just sell my 2 CXX 15's and they should be paid for I was thinking dc, but they are pushing around double for cost, and I think I would be more then happy with these sundowns plus I saw recones are only $40, so it would be a cheap mistake if melted the coils Edited January 2, 2013 by dereileak Quote 2006 Mazda3 Hatchback Black 5 Spd ManualPioneer 4300DVD2 Sundown SA-12 (34hz Tune, 3.22 cubes, 14.5 inches per cube, Triple Baffle)Kicker 10ZX2500.1 (2845 RMS) Sub AmpKicker 11ZX650.4 (705 RMS) Mid Amp -- (3 Amps)Kicker KQ3 Active CrossoverKicker KQ30 EqualizerKicker 09QS60.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones)Kicker 09QS65.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones) - (3 Sets)2/0 Gauge Electron Beam Technologies (3 Runs, 2 +, 1 -) 1/0 Gauge KNU Kollasal Flex (1 Run for -) 300 Ft Kicker X-Series 16 Gauge Speaker WireXS Power D3400 (Rear)XS Power D3100 (Front)Singer Externally Regulated Alternator (Being Built)+ The Love for Car Audio and BASS <3UBL Build Log <------- Click Here-------> Normal Build Log (For Comments)

I have it triple deadened right above where the box is, my 15's carried the sound up nicely, but from what I have seen subs back port back gives the best bass since the bass sound waves are very large Quote 2006 Mazda3 Hatchback Black 5 Spd ManualPioneer 4300DVD2 Sundown SA-12 (34hz Tune, 3.22 cubes, 14.5 inches per cube, Triple Baffle)Kicker 10ZX2500.1 (2845 RMS) Sub AmpKicker 11ZX650.4 (705 RMS) Mid Amp -- (3 Amps)Kicker KQ3 Active CrossoverKicker KQ30 EqualizerKicker 09QS60.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones)Kicker 09QS65.2 Components (Woven Carbon Cones) - (3 Sets)2/0 Gauge Electron Beam Technologies (3 Runs, 2 +, 1 -) 1/0 Gauge KNU Kollasal Flex (1 Run for -) 300 Ft Kicker X-Series 16 Gauge Speaker WireXS Power D3400 (Rear)XS Power D3100 (Front)Singer Externally Regulated Alternator (Being Built)+ The Love for Car Audio and BASS <3UBL Build Log <------- Click Here-------> Normal Build Log (For Comments)
Nightshade
I run 4 sa12s on 2 saz3500d's with each amp seeing a half ohm. I have the gains set conservatively and don't abuse them. I have never burnt the coils at all, but over time I did rip the suspension from more than a years worth of use. You will be fine if your smart about it.
