Mikey Bates
I'm building a box for my sisters ssa Xcon 15 and I'd really like to jump to Baltic birch. It's gonna be .75 thick and probably a double baffle for those who care. I was noticing the different amounts of plus. 5, 9, 13. And also different qualities, construction, interior, the. Furniture. What is a minimum ply I should get, and is furniture quality overkill ? 13 ply is like 44 for construction and 76 for furniture just as example
Trey_Dog650
I think the layers are thickness. So 13 ply is about .75 inches 13 Kia Forte Build! 07 Hyundai Accent Build ***Super Seller*** N8ball2013 And then he gets to say ok all you guys were right. im sorry for being a dummy poo poo head. Bump4life
i was told 9 is the absolute minimum to retain strength for most powerful applications. 13 is better/ the best and optimal to use. and the quality is jsut for the finish and look you want. it will generally take a stain better. do you plan on glassing insides? how will you finish box? if painting you can get away with a lower grade. but if your staining like me id reccommend furniture quality and the ply refers to how many "layers" the wood is made up of. count how many layers you see in te wood. that is the ply. the more ply the stronger the wood will be. if you get .75 thick wood it could have 13 ply 9 ply or 5 ply. ply does not effect or determine thickness of wood Buyer/Seller Feedback Thread: http://www.stevemead...5015-bump4life/ MB C220 153 Trunk Car Build Log: http://www.stevemead...d/#entry1840136 MB C280 Ipad Dash SQ Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/194484-bump4lifes-new-benz-tony-c-relay-kit-pictures-ce-electric-audison-front-stage-installed/ My SPL Log: http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 BMW M340 xDrive Stock, for now. Mikey Bates
And to bump, maybe resin the inside, and either stain or paint the outside, idk yet up to my sister
Bump4life
interior seems like way to go. if you glass inside 9 ply will be fine. I use 11 ply with no glass for my 9512s. but if you are staining go for furnature quality. and pick a nice looking grain. if you are painting interior will be fine. Mikey Bates
Ok, yeah this lumber yard the smaller ply the less thick so I have to go with 13 ply
Jessica
There is also AA AC CC AB. Those mean the quality of the sides, like one side will have a fisished layer "A" and one will be just whatver like maybe it has some knots in it or blems "C" . So you want at least one side "A" to have facing out so it will be easier ot prep for paint or whatever. Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside.
