Tyler L Harstine Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 My question is, how do you factor in polyfill when your designing a sealed box. im trying to make the smallest box i can for my two 15s and i know thats usually how people do it is with polyfill. please help...maybe you can recommend a program or any help you can give. any sealed enclosure gurus around here? If you need anymore info just ask. 01 Cadillac DTS(totaled) :(stock bose HU & doors2 earthquake tremor-x 15db drive 2000ish watt amp68 cadillac sedan deville(same fate) :'(((pioneer deh-something HUearthquake focus 6x9 rearmassive audio something 6x9 frontsoundstream tweets2 earthquake dbxi-15dmassive audio N4 amp^^subs/amp soon to be in my gf carford excursion (next ride, and planned system)pioneer 80prshigh (2 per a-pillar and 2 per b-pillar) ft1 tweets ^^possibly 1 per door too C1100.4mid (2-4 per door) pwx-10 (2) C1600.2 ampsub 4 dc lvl 6 18 (CF package and maybe other stuff) (2) dc 9k amp ported enclosure @ 30hza few D1600s(2-3) HO altsquite a few feet of 4/0 and 1/0
bkolfo4 Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Add one pound of poly per cuft of airspace. You can design the box 10-15% below the recommended volume. Some tests have shown improvements of 20+ percent, but I would not plan on more than 15%. So your saying if I pack my box with poly fill I can reduce the final volume of my enclosure by 15%? 01 Cadillac DTS(totaled) :(stock bose HU & doors2 earthquake tremor-x 15db drive 2000ish watt amp68 cadillac sedan deville(same fate) :'(((pioneer deh-something HUearthquake focus 6x9 rearmassive audio something 6x9 frontsoundstream tweets2 earthquake dbxi-15dmassive audio N4 amp^^subs/amp soon to be in my gf carford excursion (next ride, and planned system)pioneer 80prshigh (2 per a-pillar and 2 per b-pillar) ft1 tweets ^^possibly 1 per door too C1100.4mid (2-4 per door) pwx-10 (2) C1600.2 ampsub 4 dc lvl 6 18 (CF package and maybe other stuff) (2) dc 9k amp ported enclosure @ 30hza few D1600s(2-3) HO altsquite a few feet of 4/0 and 1/0
bkolfo4 Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Yes. You don't get all of the benefits of having the correct size enclosure, but you can still get good low end response like the correct enclosure. CleanSierra Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 What kind if car do you have. What kind of sub are you trying to run in a sealed box? Why are you wanting to run a 15" if you have such a small trunk. A nice ported enclosure with a 12" sub CAN sound better than a sealed 15. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
bkolfo4 Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 x2 - unless you already have the 15", do a nice ported 12" in a smaller box. Current system: 1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s Previous systems: 2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz. 1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.
Tyler L Harstine Posted January 13, 2013 Author Report Posted January 13, 2013 See that's the thing I already have the 15s...they are 2 dbxi-15d on a massive audio n4...but I'm putting them in my girlfriends car cause I'm done with them. She has a 02 ford focus sedan so that's why I want to go sealed and the fact that she listens to lots of other kinds of music more often then like rap 01 Cadillac DTS(totaled) :(stock bose HU & doors2 earthquake tremor-x 15db drive 2000ish watt amp68 cadillac sedan deville(same fate) :'(((pioneer deh-something HUearthquake focus 6x9 rearmassive audio something 6x9 frontsoundstream tweets2 earthquake dbxi-15dmassive audio N4 amp^^subs/amp soon to be in my gf carford excursion (next ride, and planned system)pioneer 80prshigh (2 per a-pillar and 2 per b-pillar) ft1 tweets ^^possibly 1 per door too C1100.4mid (2-4 per door) pwx-10 (2) C1600.2 ampsub 4 dc lvl 6 18 (CF package and maybe other stuff) (2) dc 9k amp ported enclosure @ 30hza few D1600s(2-3) HO altsquite a few feet of 4/0 and 1/0
