port area question

In torres my box is 2.4 net after woffer,bracing and port but my port area is 22sq in its for 3 tens on low power and they call for . 7-1.1 ported so i want to ask before i port it i am guessing i need around 27sq in of port would that be good im still new to box building im gonna be using pvc ports and i can have them sticking about 2in outside of the box if that helps

You would use whatever they recommend, actually. You don't have to multiply it by the number of subs.

sounds kinda like you saying you want to port a sealed box. besides for 3 tens you want about 3cuft after displacement with roughly 32sq" of port.

Maybe I am not following your logic or what you are trying to say, but if you are going to go off of the manufactures recommended box specs for the sub, then yes you do need to triple the recommended volume and amount of port area if you have three subs.

i built the box planning to port it after displacement still sealed its 2.7 cubic ft and he minimun portedbox the subs call for is .7 so thats 2.1 cubic ft and for that i was askin would around 28-30 sq in of port be ok?

12 to 16 square inch per cubic foot is the usual recommendation for port area iirc

therefore

2.7 x 12 = 32.4 sq in

2.7 x 16 = 43.2 sq in

based on the recommendations you are a lil small, it may very well work as is as nothing is a definate and it all comes down to what you prefer when it comes to the sound

No, what I was saying is say the manufacturer says the sub performs best at 11^2 port area per foot, 3 subs it's still going to be 11^2 port area per foot.

No, what we are saying is that the size of the subwoofer, and the size of the box are all irrelevant if you are building a box just in general for that size subwoofer. You need to build specifically around the subwoofer(s) you are using.
