ChevyBoy95
4 layers of coil difference is a big deal, and the real rms rating of the hdc3 is 1-2krms. It is "rated" for 1krms, but many put around 2-3krms in them. That audiopipe might pop after about 1200rms. bassfreake
one is quality, the other isn't. the 1000w rating on the hdc3 is a joke. it will easily handle twice that. I wasn't looking to actually compare one sub with the other I already know that AQ vs AP they aren't even in the same league. I was just using those examples for the differences in specs. Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out. ChevyBoy95
Heat dissipation and being a stronger electromagnet. Stated in my above post. bkolfo4
You have to look at the complete set of t/s parameters vs. what you are trying to achieve, how much room you have for a box, and how much power you have. A sub may have a 50 lb magnet, but low motor force due to the gap size. It may have a really heavy cone and low Fs, it may have a stiff suspension and a really high Fs. The Qts may steer it toward being a sealed sub instead of a ported sub. There are just too many things to look at other than the size of the magnets and how much power it will handle. There are free modeling programs available (even an excel spreadsheet on diysubwoofers.org) that you can use to compare different subs in different boxes with different input power. . . Current system: 1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s Previous systems: 2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz. 1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz. bassfreake
oh ok cool thanks that's helpful then at least I can play around with different variables and figure out what it does and I can figure to my hearts content lol thanks I'll go look around for a modeling program... just look up free subwoofer modeling program or somethin? Thanks I was pretty excited about the alt myself. kind of like a school girl, in a dress, on a swing. lol It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out.
